During your free time at the retreats, choose between exploring on-site therapeutic healing options, or explore the stunning nature and activities offered at Gulf Shores State Park, nearby beaches, and Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. 

 

Whether you’re seeking a leisurely stroll or trying get your heart pumping, the picturesque Gulf trails are full of sublime beauty and scenic surprises. You might spot an alligator basking in the sun, a white-tailed deer grazing on foliage, a pod of dolphins leaping between waves, or migratory birds flitting from tree to tree.

 

We wholeheartedly encourage you to bask in the beauty all around.

 

Want to get your neurons firing and your muscles moving?  Try out paddleboarding, biking, bird watching, walking or hiking through the 6000-acre nature preservation, all within the State Park.

Enjoy Gulf delicacies at any of several wonderful restaurants located throughout the park, including secluded dining in a wooded setting and scenic sunsets beside the beach.

Kayaking & Paddleboarding

Explore the park’s three freshwater lakes while kayaking or paddleboarding - a peaceful way to connect with nature and enjoy the surrounding wildlife.

Fishing

Experience unique fishing opportunities at Lake Shelby, where freshwater and saltwater fish coexist. It’s a perfect activity for relaxation and engagement with the natural environment.

(Freshwater fishing license is required.)

Hiking & Cycling

 You can venture out on foot or cycle to see the diverse landscapes of Gulf State Park. The S.Branyon Backcountry Trail offers miles of breathtaking moments in the outdoors.

Wildlife Refuge

Nature enthusiasts can visit the nearby Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge for birdwatching, and observe local fauna in their natural habitats.

White Sand Beaches

Take time to unwind at the gorgeous white sand beaches within Gulf State Park. Soak up the sun, swim, or simply enjoying the calming sounds of the ocean.

Accommodations

Retreat visitors will stay in the new Bunkhouse at The Gulf State Park Learning Campus - both cozy and convenient.  The Bunkhouse features comfortable sitting areas and spacious community spaces, ideal for group discussions and wellness sessions.​  Upgraded sleeping accommodations are available at additional cost.

Group Arrangements

Two cabins are available for an additional cost, and host large groups. Each cabin houses up to 64 participants, with 32 beds (16 bunk beds) per cabin.

Dining & Common Areas

A residential kitchen and dining area are available, allowing guests to prepare snacks and meals.
This setup ensures that everyone can comfortably meet, rest, and enjoy meals together.  Cabins include private bathrooms, showers, and complimentary laundry facilities.
